Help
Short answers about the app. Neighbor help stays on the Community Service Board. Longer pages stay linked, including How It Works and the glossary.
About the App
What Citizens United Is Link
Citizens United is a civic app for reading officials, bills, and public money, and for keeping a dated receipt when a verified neighbor writes. Reading the public record is open. Writing a letter, rating an official, or casting a vote waits until identity verification is live.
Not the 2010 Case or a Party Link
This project is not the 2010 campaign-finance Supreme Court case, and it is not a political action committee. It is not a party, a candidate committee, or an endorsement list. The same pages are there for both parties, and a party label comes from the public record.
Who Runs It and How It Is Funded Link
Until donations cover the costs, the founder funds the app. A gift is optional and is for running this app, not for a candidate. When money comes in or goes out, it is posted on Open Books, and that ledger stays empty until a real entry is saved.
Is It Free Link
Browsing, lessons, and the public record do not require a payment. An optional tip can help cover the personal cost of running the app. Points cannot be bought.
Your Account
Do I Need an Account Link
What Voter Verification Checks Link
Verification is not live yet. The planned check answers whether this person is a voter in these districts. The app is written to keep that yes or no, the district names, and a watch flag, and it does not keep an ID image, a selfie, a full Social Security number, or a raw voter-file row.
What the Waitlist Stores Link
The waitlist stores a first name, a last name, an email, and an optional ZIP and state after you confirm the email. Joining does not mark you verified. You can leave from the link in the confirmation email, and while verification is closed a vote, rating, or letter button opens the waitlist and stores nothing.
Privacy and Deleting an Account Link
The privacy policy lists security logs, a future verification result, a server-side login, and device-only preferences such as theme. Those device preferences are not the login. To ask for access, a correction, or deletion, use Feedback or Contact.
The Public Record
Where the Data Comes From Link
Officials, bills, roll calls, and campaign-finance filings come from public sources. A shown amount or vote appears only when a stored filing or roll included it. If the source did not send a fact, the field stays blank. The app does not scrape Ballotpedia, X, Vote Smart, or Truth Social.
How Often the Data Updates Link
Readers pull official files on a schedule, and a failed pull leaves the last good copy. Congress.gov bills and Open States are written to run about every 6 hours, the current legislator file and OpenFEC about once a day, and GovInfo bill text about once an hour until it is caught up, then about every 6 hours. House clerk rolls, Senate rolls, and a weekly public vote file are not all turned on, so a missing roll stays blank.
Letters and the Wall Link
A letter on the Wall is a receipt this app hosts. Citizens United does not file that letter with the office. Sending stays closed until verification is live, so the Wall is not taking new verified letters yet.
Votes and Tallies Link
A vote here is one choice per person on one question, and it is not a government election. The default window is 48 hours unless a shorter window is set, you can change your choice until it closes, and the count stays hidden until then. While verification is closed, the button opens the waitlist and does not record a vote.
Taking Part
Points and Merit Link
Points are earned slowly by taking part, and they are spent only to hype a community post. They cannot be bought, sold, or turned into money, and they do not change a vote or a rating. Merit is a separate public checklist for posting some kinds of content, such as uploads. Until verification is live, a points button opens the waitlist and records nothing.
Using the App
Accessibility, Themes, and the App Link
The header switches light and dark. Display Settings also has that switch, plus large type and a focus feed when that feed is enabled. Those choices stay on this device and are not your login. The site can be installed from the browser when that browser offers an install control.
How to Contact Us Link
Questions about the app go to Contact or Feedback. Privacy requests use those same pages. Neighbor help is on the Community service board, and contact there is shown only after both verified people agree. There is no private message inbox in the app.
